Lakos TwistIIClean inline sediment filters remove organics, sand and sediment from water systems. Easy to install and easy to use, TwistIIClean can be used on an as-and-when basis and provides quick and easy cleaning in less than 20 seconds.

A gentle ¼ TWIST of the handle begins the patented reverse flushing action, and the TwistIIClean backwashes itself from the inside out. All the debris is quickly and forcefully cleaned off the filter element and flushed from the bottom port.

Please note: Install TwistIiclean on pressure (outlet) side of any pumps and pressure tanks.

Installation in 7 EASY Steps

1 Remove the TwistIIClean from its box. Check to make sure the box also contains a small dispenser of sealant tape and two slip/threaded adapters for use if needed.
2 Be sure the clear bowl is securely tightened (hand tighten only). The unit is shipped with the bowl loose. Lift the red safety latch and rotate the top handle a few times to make sure it will rotate 1/4 clockwise turn.
3 Prepare the piping manifold to install TwistIIClean. Select the best fittings for your installation, using slip or threaded fittings as desired. Notice the direction of water flow through the unit -- a flow direction arrow is molded into the side of the unit. (Fig A).
4 Use proper PVC solvents and follow gluing instructions on solvent container. Do not spill solvent on any part of the TwistIIClean unit.
5 Mounting eyelets provide for a more stable installation (Fig B). Stabilizer bolts are recommended for long term stability of your TwistIIClean. Use ⅜" Hex Lag Screws plus washers and PVC pipe to connect to a secure surface. These parts are NOT supplied with your TwistIIClean.
6 Once installed, test by turning water supply on slowly, allowing water to feed through the unit. Check for leaks. After lifting the safety latch, twist the top handle with a ¼ clockwise turn to re-direct the flow for cleaning. This should lift the screen element inside the bowl and release flush water through the purge exit at the bottom of the unit. Twist the handle back to its "run" position, lower the safety latch and check for leaks.
7 Attach a flush drain hose (if necessary) to direct the purged particle matter and excess water to a drain or other desired area for discharge (Fig C).

What does TwistIIClean do?

TwistIIClean removes sand and sediment from your incoming water supply.

How do you clean the filter?

Simply flip the red safety latch and turn the top handle clockwise for 1/4 of a turn. This will flush your filter. Flush for 10 seconds, then slowly turn the top handle to it's original position and re-set the safety latch.

What size filter is right for me?

Rather than pipe size, TwistIIClean filter size is chosen based on flow rate.

3/4" T2C-075: 0-25GPM
1" T2C-100: 0-39GPM
1 1/2" T2C-150: 0-78GPM

What screen mesh size should I use?

Most residential installations use 100 mesh, but the best mesh size depends on the particles in your water and what you use your water for. TwistIIClean uses four different screen mesh sizes for it's filters:

30 mesh (600 micron)
60 mesh (250 micron)
100 mesh (150 micron)
140 mesh (105 micron)

Why so much back-flushing?

This can be due to heavy sediment load. To clear coarser sediment from the supply before filtering finer particles for your intended water use you can place a second TwistIIClean upstream of the first with a coarser screen in it to act as a pre-filter to the downstream TwistIIClean.

Can I filter chemically treated water?

TwistIIClean filters are not specifically designed for chemically treated water, as very harsh chemicals may adversely affect the filter components and the performance of the filter. For best results, chemical injection, if used, should be done downstream of the TwistIIClean Filter.

Can I filter hot water?

This product should not be placed upstream of water heaters or water over 120°F (49°C).

Why is there algae in the filter bowl?

Algae growth in the filter bowl is caused by exposure to sunlight.  Algae growth can be reduced by installing the filter in a shaded area. Alternatively, this problem can be prevented by installing a TwistIIClean Sun Shield designed specifically for the TwistIIClean Filters. The TwistIIClean Sun Shield is a black neoprene woven cover that slips over the clear bowl to prevent growth of algae and other organics.

How can I remove or clean the filter cartridge?

If your filter does not clean itself thoroughly after back-washing, you may need to clean your filter element of embedded sediment. In the event that you need to remove the internal filter screen, you should shut off the water supply, remove the filter bowl (by turning counter clockwise), and finally remove the filter element.

On the T2C-075 and T2C-100 this is achieved removing the holding pin at the top and pulling the element straight down.
This is achieved on the T2C-150 by gently pulling on the clips holding the filter element in place until it can be pulled straight down. Pulling these clips too far may damage the filter.

To reinstall, reverse the procedure, making sure the o-ring at the top of the bowl is in place.
